Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) was conceived in the mid-199 0s. It offered not only atrioventricular (AV) synchronization as had previously been used in dual chamber pacing but also synchronization of the two ventricles.By pacing the region of the left ventricle (LV) with the most delayed activation, it was possible both to improve interventricular synchrony and the synchrony of the LV itself. A brief review of the current techniques achieving this purpose is attempted.Downloads
